(Senior) Lead Asset Manager (INFRA)
Baar, CH
What it's about
As a (Senior) Lead Asset Manager at Partners Group, you will work through the Board and alongside management teams to translate private equity underwriting and value creation plans into clear execution priorities, measurable KPIs, and tangible results. You will play a hands-on role in shaping and delivering transformation, helping portfolio companies accelerate performance and build long-term, sustainable value. This is an opportunity to operate at the intersection of strategy and execution in a global, high-ownership environment, where impact is visible and collaboration with investment teams and senior stakeholders is central to success.
Key responsibilities
- Work in close cooperation with investment teams, board members, and portfolio company management to define strategic plans and support the implementation of value creation initiatives
- Ensure the Board and management team of each portfolio company are fit-for-purpose to deliver the agreed strategy; where senior changes/additions are needed, oversee the recruitment process
- Through the Board and management team, drive delivery of the value creation plan, including operational improvement, restructuring, and re-financing initiatives to maximize value creation
- Maintain strong ongoing operational focus by regularly reviewing financial and operational performance, tracking progress vs. KPIs, and ensuring agreed goals are achieved
- Translate underwriting assumptions (P&L, cash flow, balance sheet) into action-oriented operating plans, governance cadence, and clear execution ownership
- Lead or support transformation programs (e.g., SG&A optimization, operational excellence, turnaround planning, or scaling/buy-and-build execution) from design through implementation
- Coach and develop junior team members and contribute to best-practice sharing across the platform
- Demonstrated ability to understand a private equity underwriting and value creation plan (including P&L, cash flow and balance sheet) and translate it into action items, KPIs, and board-level execution
- Experience designing and running transformation programs (strategy setup through implementation)
- Sound functional expertise in operations and SG&A (operational excellence, cost saving, operational transformation/restructuring, value creation programs); scaling and buy-and-build execution is a plus
- Strong analytical skillset and quantitative thinking
- Experienced working “outside-in” with management teams; able to communicate on eye-level with C-level leaders and board members and earn trust and credibility
- Board and/or operational management experience preferred; exposure to turnaround or underperforming situations is an advantage
- Strong stakeholder management, leadership, and coaching capability; able to lead and develop junior team members
- Confident contributor in client interactions, able to speak credibly about Partners Group’s direct investments
- Master’s degree and/or MBA preferred; around 10+ years of relevant experience or equivalent demonstrated expertise
- Fluency in English and willingness to travel regularly; comfortable in an international, fast-moving environment
