In this full-time position as a Senior Sustainability Associate, we are seeking a candidate with a passion for responsible investment ownership, and value creation, who will be instrumental in supporting Partners Group’s sustainability strategy in integrating environmental, social, and governance factors across our investment platform supporting our investment, client and corporate pillar. The position is based in Partners Group's headquarters in Zug (Switzerland) and seeks a candidate with a proven track record in driving sustainability initiatives/efforts in financial markets/institutions. The role requires a strong balance of technical and communication expertise, backed by a strong foundational knowledge of sustainability in portfolio companies. This position requires a pragmatic mindset, to think and execute like an entrepreneur and drive this in their approach and their engagement with investment teams and relevant stakeholders in their focus area and across the firm.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Support specific investment teams in driving sustainability initiatives across their portfolios and portfolio companies
  • Contribute to sustainability due diligence assessments aligned with regulatory and strategic requirements, and run cyclical portfolio reviews on key sustainability topics, driving action and accountability across the platform
  • Generate insights from sustainability data across AuM and support related firmwide processes and deliverables
  • Operationalize material sustainability topics (e.g., decarbonization) and regulatory requirements (e.g., SFDR/EU Taxonomy) through playbooks, tools, and training/webinars
  • Drive key insights for client engagement by being the key point of contact for a specific asset class and type, and specific sustainability deep dive sessions
  • Enable and coordinate with key investment professionals to educate, operationalize, and support consistent implementation across asset classes and teams
  • Support corporate and client sustainability deliverables, including the Sustainability Report, ratings monitoring (e.g., ISS/MSCI/DJSI), client disclosures, and responses to client queries/data requests
 
What we expect

 

For this challenging yet rewarding position we are seeking a candidate with a passion for sustainable business strategies and navigating complex sustainability regulations and client requirements. We are looking for a candidate that is proactive in supporting the broader Sustainability team, persistent in making sure deliverables are executed on time, and pragmatic in finding solutions to complex tasks.

 

  • Demonstrated ability to drive sustainability initiatives in private markets, balancing technical depth with clear stakeholder communication
  • Approximately 5+ years of relevant experience (investment, corporate sustainability, or consulting/legal/auditing background)
  • Strong working knowledge of sustainability regulations and frameworks relevant to private markets (e.g., SFDR, EU Taxonomy)
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to deliver accurate outputs on tight timelines across multiple workstreams
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint (structured analysis and executive-ready materials)
  • Comfortable working in a global, matrixed organization with senior stakeholders across investment and client-facing teams
  • Proactive, pragmatic, “can-do” mindset with a track record of independently owning deliverables end-to-end
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English; German and/or additional languages are a plus
