What it's about

Partners Group is seeking an experienced, commercially minded tax professional to lead Americas tax operations and the tax implementation of new investment products, structures, and strategic initiatives.

This individual will oversee tax compliance, accounting, governance, controls, documentation, and service-provider performance across a growing portfolio of investment vehicles and management entities. The role will also support the tax workstream for new product launches, ensuring tax requirements are identified during product design and incorporated into fund documentation, reporting, systems, controls, and operating procedures before launch.

The successful candidate will combine technical expertise in regulated investment company taxation, tax accounting, and investment fund taxation with strong leadership, process improvement, and project management capabilities. The individual will build scalable, well-controlled processes, reduce key-person dependency, and serve as a senior partner to Product Structuring, Product Management, Legal, Operations, Finance, Fund Control, Investor Relations, and external advisors.

  • Partner with Product Structuring, Legal, Product Management, Finance, Fund Control, and Operations throughout the product-development lifecycle.
  • Identify tax risks, dependencies, data requirements, service-provider needs, and implementation considerations during product design.
  • Own the tax implementation plan and ensure required documentation, reporting, controls, systems, and operating procedures are in place before launch.
  • Drive cross-functional execution against agreed milestones, responsibilities, and deliverables.

Tax Accounting & Technical Leadership

  • Provide technical leadership on tax accounting matters affecting funds, management companies, and regulated investment vehicles.
  • Oversee ASC 740 analyses, uncertain tax positions, valuation allowances, deferred taxes, tax reserves, and provision-related matters.
  • Support NAV-related tax matters and coordinate with Finance, Fund Control, auditors, and administrators.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in RIC and BDC taxation, Subchapter M, investment fund and partnership taxation, state and local taxation, and investor tax reporting.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and translate complex technical matters into practical recommendations.
  • Lead audit readiness, technical memorandum development, and responses to auditor or regulatory inquiries.
  • Develop scalable tax operating models, integrated calendars, documented procedures, responsibility matrices, and control standards.
  • Implement workflow, data, technology, automation, and AI-enabled solutions that improve quality, transparency, and efficiency.
  • Establish performance reporting for deadlines, quality, capacity, risk, and service-provider performance.
  • Reduce key-person dependency through standardization, knowledge management, succession planning, and cross-training.
  • Apply disciplined project management to complex tax initiatives and product launches.
