Team Context

The Fund & Investment Management platform team within the Business Applications Group is dedicated to managing the product life cycle, with a focus on delivering comprehensive solutions for transaction processing, accounting, valuation, and portfolio management for Partners Group’s direct and indirect investments. This team is instrumental in supporting investment life cycle management solutions across all asset classes, facilitating activities related to portfolio management, ESG monitoring, and investment valuation.


Role Purpose

A Data Engineer designs, builds, and supports scalable data pipelines, platforms, and information services that provide secure, trusted, and efficient access to organizational data. This role partners with business stakeholders to turn business questions into trusted analysis, reporting, and decision support within the Fund & Investment Management domain.


Key Responsibilities

Data Engineering & Platform Delivery

  • Design and implement scalable data ingestion, transformation, and distribution capabilities
  • Build, enhance, and maintain data platforms, datasets, and reusable data products
  • Design logical and physical data structures appropriate to the use case and platform standards
  • Improve availability, performance, observability, recoverability, and cost efficiency of data services
  • Automate data operations, quality controls, deployment, and maintenance activities
  • Build and maintain data pipelines using modern orchestration tools
  • Apply engineering practices to improve data quality, lineage, and trustworthiness

Stakeholder & Team Engagement

  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand information needs and service expectations
  • Collaborate with Solution Engineers and Solution Architects on integration and solution design
  • Work with source-system and consuming teams to resolve quality and interface issues

 

Risk & Compliance

  • Embed access control, security, privacy, retention, and governance into data services
  • Ensure data processing aligns with approved lineage, quality, and operational-control requirements

 
What we expect

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or quantitative discipline preferred
  • Experience: At least 3 years in data engineering, solution engineering, or database experience, ideally in financial services
  • Track Record: Demonstrated experience building data pipelines and platforms with strong programming and SQL capability
  • Communication: Excellent communicator with team-oriented approach

Technical Expertise

  • Databases: Confirmed hands-on expertise with relational databases, data warehouses, and SQL
  • Data Warehousing: Deep knowledge of Snowflake
  • ETL/Data Integration: Practical experience with ETL tools and data pipeline orchestration
  • BI & Analytics: Understanding of BI (e.g., Qlik) and Advanced Data Analytics concepts
  • Programming Languages: Strong programming skills with advanced knowledge of Java and/or Python
  • Cloud Computing: AWS experience with services such as RDS, Fargate, Glue
  • AI Coding Assistants: Experience with modern AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code

Good to Have

  • Certification: AWS Data Engineer Specialty or AWS Solution Architect Associate
  • Agile Frameworks: Experience with SAFe, Kanban, or Scrum
  • Databases: Experience with PostgreSQL, MS SQL
  • Orchestration Tools: Apache Airflow, Control-M
  • Frontend: React and TypeScript
  • Messaging & Streaming: Kafka, SQS, Amazon Kinesis
