Head, Business Applications

What it's about
The Head Business Applications is a senior member of management, serving as an exceptional people leader and expert across a broad spectrum of financial applications in Private Equity, Private Infrastructure, Private Credit, Private Real Estate and Royalties. This role works closely with the CTO, the other Co-Head Business Applications, the relevant business leadership, and the Head IT Services to define and implement the business applications strategy for Partners Group.
Key Responsibilities
Productivity and Quality
- Ensure resilient, compliant and cost-conscious operations, holistic product lifecycle management, and successful project delivery across the whole portfolio to deliver business value through best-in-class solutions and in optimal balance between operational stability, security, and speed
- Set and deliver strategy with Platform Owners and Chapter Leaders to manage priorities and related staffing (internal and external)
- Proactively take on entrepreneurial initiatives and develop the business applications related services with full ownership and high autonomy
- Be the escalation point for BUAP matters for leadership, business stakeholders, and team members
Collaboration
- Leverage internal network of senior business colleagues and actively build and leverage an external network of colleagues in industry peer companies
- Work closely with the other Co-Head, Platform Owners and Chapter Leaders to secure the success of the Business Application Group in delivering its mandate to the Partners Group’s organization
- Maintain a close collaboration with IT Services, business counterparts and other relevant functions in the firm (for example Chief Data Officer, Chief Information Security Officer, Data Protection Officers, Compliance Officers, Operational Risk Management, etc.)
Leadership
- Demonstrate a proven track record of initiating and successfully executing cross-departmental business applications initiatives through innovation and as a thought leader
- Define and manage the Business Unit strategy in collaboration with the other Co-Head, and with the relevant business stakeholders and in close alignment with the business goals
- Lead a cross-functional, multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team of internal and external colleagues pre-dominantly across Asia
- Show exceptional leadership skills in recruiting, developing and team building and consistently receive good development feedback on people leadership
- Identify and coach upcoming leaders by sharing experience and knowledge
- Lead from the front, promoting Partners Group values, acting as role model for ethically acceptable behavior, setting the highest standards of integrity, quality, and excellence with team members
- Be at the forefront of core business application trends in the financial industry and leverage these trends for the overall business application strategy of the firm
Compliance
- Ensure all relevant security, data protection and compliance regulations are upheld
- Foster a mindset of professional excellence in the business unit by being a role model and through adequate measurement and monitoring
- Take accountability for full compliance within the business unit, holding each team member accountable for the same
- Senior leadership experience in financial software development and application management, typically with 15+ years in relevant roles.
- Proven success in leading high-performing, agile financial application teams within larger organizations.
- Strong people leadership skills, with a track record of team development and cross-cultural management.
- Strategic thinker with demonstrated experience in setting and executing business application strategies aligned to business objectives.
- Deep understanding of current and emerging trends in business applications within the financial industry in general, and private markets in specific
- Experience working across functions such as IT, AI/GenAI, data, security, compliance, and risk management.
- Professional certifications on AWS, SCRUM, COBIT, TOGAF, CISM, a strong plus
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluency in English; German a plus.
