Vice President (APAC) - Private Real Estate - Sydney

What it's about

In this position, you will be part of a dynamic and growing global real estate asset management team within a large, established investment platform.  Your responsibilities will include working closely with team members and local operating partners in order to drive real estate investment performance.

Responsibilities

 

  • Drive value creation from deal execution through exit for assets with complex investment strategies including developments and repositionings, in conjunction with local operating partners, leasing/sales agents, and technical consultants
  • Identify, recommend and execute asset management initiatives to capitalize on opportunities and mitigate risks during the hold period
  • Assess investment performance in relation to business plan targets by analyzing asset financials and reports, performing regular sites visits and joining asset update meetings.
  • Analyze capital expenditures, leases, refinancings, hold/sell and other major decisions including financial modeling in Excel, and prepare recommendations to the investment committee accordingly
  • Evaluate annual business plans, including operating budgets, and exit strategy
  • Oversee the internal quarterly valuation and review 3rd party appraiser reports
  • Provide feedback to the acquisitions team during underwriting and due diligence, and serve as an expert on local leasing and capital market conditions
  • Support fundraising efforts by presenting to prospective clients and participating in due diligence sessions; source new investment opportunities
  • Special projects as required
What we expect

For this position, we are looking for a person who works well in an entrepreneurial organization, who is a self-starter and possesses strong networking and organization skills. The successful candidate should have the following profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in real estate, engineering, architecture, business, economics, finance or similar subject required; master's degree preferred
  • At least 12 years of relevant industry experience preferably at a real estate operator, or private equity firm; experience with real estate value add and/or opportunistic strategies a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Excellent analytical skills including expertise in using Excel and/or Argus to build cash flow pro forma models and distribution waterfalls
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving ability, with strong attention to detail
  • Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work in a team-oriented environment
