The Senior Lead Fund Controller is a senior fund expert and people leader, partnering closely with internal teams (Treasury, Valuations, Client Content Solutions, Financial Reporting, Legal/Compliance, Client Solutions, Investment teams as required) and external service providers (fund administrators, auditors, custodians) to ensure accurate Net Asset Values (NAVs), high-quality financial statements, timely audits, and strong operational controls.
Responsibilities:
People leadership
- Lead, coach and develop an assigned Fund Control sub-team; create clear objectives, performance feedback loops and development plans.
- Proactively develop junior colleagues into senior capabilities; support hiring/onboarding as required.
- Ensure consistent quality across the team’s outputs through review standards, training and control discipline.
Fund oversight & controls
- Own the end-to-end Fund Control oversight for an assigned portfolio of closed-ended funds/mandates, ensuring complete, accurate and timely deliverables.
- Review, challenge and approve NAVs, capital activity, fee calculations and key fund-level metrics prepared by service providers.
- Perform analytical review and analyze NAV movements (performance, flows, valuation changes, FX/hedging impacts, expenses/accruals) and ensure appropriate controls and documentation.
- Act as a subject matter expert on fund control topics including valuations interface, hedging impacts, onboarding, governance and service provider oversight.
Financial statements & audit management
- Proactively collaborate with the Financial Reporting team to manage and oversee the audit process for closed-ended funds.
- Engage closely with auditors throughout the audit cycle to ensure the highest quality of the audited financial statements, as well as the efficiency and timeliness of all audit-related activities.
- Review financial statements (e.g., IFRS / Lux GAAP / US GAAP as applicable), ensuring consistency with the fund documents and reporting requirements.
Service provider management
- Drive performance management of third-party administrators and partners: setting expectations, monitoring SLAs, reviewing deliverables, and escalating issues appropriately.
- Coordinate workflows with stakeholders including auditors and service providers to ensure smooth delivery across multiple stakeholder groups.
Process, systems & change
- Operate and continuously enhance firm-wide private markets processes and systems; contribute to standardization and scalable operating models.
- Identify control gaps and lead continuous improvement initiatives, including Business Unit-wide projects and implementation of new ways of working.
Stakeholder management & leadership
- Serve as a confident representative of Fund Control to internal and external stakeholders; lead constructive dialogue to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Contribute to the evolution of the Fund Control service catalogue in coordination with the Head of Fund Control and the Global Business Unit Head.
- Role-model Partners Group values; build an environment of accountability, collaboration and continuous development.
Education & qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting (or equivalent).
- Professional qualification preferred: CPA / CA / ACCA.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS; exposure to Lux GAAP and/or US GAAP is an advantage.
Experience
- 10+ years of relevant experience in fund accounting, fund control, financial reporting, audit, or financial services controlling; private markets / private equity experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success in audit coordination, multi-stakeholder management, and service provider oversight under tight deadlines.
- Proven people management experience (team leadership, coaching, performance management, succession planning).
Skills & mindset
- Strong analytical mindset with a passion for numbers and ability to rationalize drivers behind NAV movements.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and ownership mentality.
