What it's about

Partners Group is seeking to hire a Denver-based Senior Associate to join the direct private equity group. This opportunity will encompass leading control buyouts with equity check sizes ranging from USD 200m to USD 1'000m. The Senior Associate will be expected to work in the consumer and industrial industry verticals.

The Senior Associate's role is to lead all aspects of the investment life cycle, including origination, execution, structuring, pricing and negotiation of new private equity investments. The Senior Associate will also monitor portfolio company investments through the investment period and ultimately assess and effect a monetization of the investment that maximizes return.
        
Specific responsibilities will include leading investments in all respects, including the following specific tasks: 

•    Assist in sourcing business opportunities and discussing relevant factors with the firm’s senior managers;
•    Applying critical thinking and judgment in prioritizing investment opportunities;
•    Supervising, guiding and leading industry and competitive research performed by junior resources and external counterparties;
•    Leading construction of detailed, business unit-based financial models, including optimal capital structure, purchase price, adjustments and sensitivities to economic conditions;
•    Drafting responsibility for initial investment committee reports while supervising external resources in this process;
•    Assist in negotiating debt facilities, purchase agreements, employment agreements and incentive compensation for management teams;
•    Managing third party due diligence partners (accounting and tax professionals, attorneys, technical consultants, insurance, environmental, etc.);
•    Flexing both upwards and downwards in order to coordinate the deal process and ensure every aspect of the work gets done;
•    Supporting and being proactive in all matters arising in the ordinary course of investment management, acting quickly to identify, address and correct issues;
•    Working to identify and evaluating strategic opportunities such as acquisitions, divestitures, or entering new market/verticals;
•    Supporting lender communication and working through issues surrounding debt agreements;
•    Analyzing issues and opportunities as they arise with portfolio companies;
•    Supporting in exit process management;
•    Collaborate with other investing verticals at Partners Group.

 

What we expect

•    2 - 4 years in private equity preceded by two-to-four years of investment banking or management consulting.
•    Demonstrated prior investment experience in which the professional successfully managed all relevant stages of an investment such as: analysis, due diligence, company valuations, preparing investment memorandums, structuring sources of funding and overseeing third party advisors.
•    Genuine intellectual curiosity about long-term financial investing in global industries and corporations as well as working with high-caliber management teams;
•    Exceptional business acumen and judgment in analyzing investment opportunities, market information and company financials.
•    Strong experience developing relationships when managing both junior resources and external advisors.
