Private Debt, Assistant Vice President

What it's about

We have a great opportunity to join our growing Private Debt business. As an Assistant Vice President, you will be an integral member of the private debt team, and take part in all aspects of private debt investments. The team provides mezzanine, unitranche and senior debt financing, primarily to back private equity-sponsored leveraged buyouts. We are a market leader in private debt, and invested over USD 20bn in credits globally since 2003.

What we expect

Specific responsibilities will include leading investments in all respects, including the following specific tasks:

  • Applying critical thinking and judgment in prioritizing investment opportunities
  • Coaching and training junior resources
  • Working on several workstreams / transactions simultaneously
  • Experience and demonstrated understanding of all aspects of the underwriting process including the coordination of internal and external stakeholders and advisors
  • Ability to manage an entire deal process with limited oversight, for certain transactions; ability to work as junior support on larger or more complex transactions
  • Compiling robust investment committee memos
  • Presenting transactions and recommendations to investment committees
  • Exposure to / ability to contribute to negotiating legal documentation with various third parties, including private equity sponsors
  • Communicating professionally with private equity relationships and/or other lenders involved in a deal
  • Ensuring smooth and successful deal closings and fundings
  • Supporting and being proactive in all matters arising in the ordinary course of investment management, acting quickly to identify, address and correct issues
  • Bachelor’s or MBA degree from a top college or university
  • Four-to-six years relevant work experience in credit or leveraged finance, with increasing levels of responsibility in managing various aspects of the deal process
  • Excellent analytical, technical, interpersonal, and client facing skills
  • Exceptional business acumen and judgment in analyzing investment opportunities, market information and company financials
  • Strong experience developing internal and external relationships
