In this role of Senior Compliance Officer (Japan), you will be primarily responsible for the day-to-day compliance function and ensuring the regulatory obligations are met in accordance to regulatory changes and business needs of our Japan entity. In addition, you will form part of the regional compliance team in Asia. This role presents an excellent opportunity to achieve personal success and contribute to the growth of our business in Japan.
Key Responsibilities:
· Identifying, understanding and interpreting Japan legislation and regulation
· Being the point of contact for the Japanese authorities like the FSA, KLFB and other self-regulatory bodies in Japan on regulatory compliance matters
· Monitoring and responding to regulatory developments in Japan
· Ensuring compliance with the regulatory obligations in Japan
· Ensuring that regulatory reporting and filing is completed timely and accurately
· Reporting to the Regional Head Compliance and providing support to the regional compliance team in Asia as well as ad-hoc support to the global compliance team
· Work on global projects as part of the global compliance team
· Providing compliance advice and support to the business (particularly investment, marketing and private wealth related) in the Japan entity
· Review of marketing materials in Japanese
· Collaborate and support the global internal audit team for internal and external audit activities
We are looking for individuals who have relevant legal or compliance experience in the financial services industry in Japan
· University graduate in Law, Business, Accounting or related discipline.
· 7-10+ years of relevant regulatory compliance experience (Type II and IAA), in the Asset Management / Investment Management industry in particular in Japan.
· Experience dealing with the KLFB/FSA rules and other relevant Japan legislation and regulation as well as adapting them into practical day-to-day business practices
· Experience working on global projects in an international firm
· Candidates should have an analytical and independent mind-set
· Team player and collaborative approach is a must.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present analysis and recommendations.
· Strong analytical skills with experience in problem-solving and being able to implement and deliver solutions independently.
· Successful in building, maintaining and leveraging internal and external relationships including with the relevant Japan regulator(s), auditors and other stakeholders.
